St. Mary plans dinner, auctions

Head to St. Mary School in Lake Leelanau from 6-10 p.m. Saturday for the annual dinner and live auction fundraiser. This year’s Fiesta Time event has a south-of-the border theme with a cash cantina and complimentary appetizers. The event is $10, with dinner at 6 p.m. and the live auction starting at 8 p.m. A silent auction runs throughout the evening. Proceeds of the event go toward school projects and improvements.

Sight in rifle for deer season

Prepare for deer season at the Cedar Rod & Gun Club annual Rifle Sight-in Days set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday and next Sunday, Nov. 13, at the Gun Club at 8075 South Sullivan Road. Rangemasters will be on hand to assist and targets are available. You don’t have to be a member to attend. The cost is $5 per gun, with donations appreciated. Visit crgc.org for directions.

Turn back the clocks

It’s payback time for clock watchers, as Daylight Savings Time ends in the wee hours of Sunday morning. That’s when the clock will officially “fall back” one hour — although most folks take care of the chore before climbing into bed Saturday or after their Sunday morning coffee. We’re not alone. Daylight Savings Time affects most Americans, with the exceptions being in parts of Arizona, Hawaii and a few territories.
