No-contact order remains on M-C woman charged with hitting her husband

ADKINS ADKINS A 54-year-old Maple City woman who allegedly punched her husband in the face was in 86th District Court on Tuesday, where she pleaded not guilty to domestic violence.

Patricia A. Adkins, of 8448 S. Maple City Road, is currently free on a $1,000 personal recognizance bond.

Adkins was arrested on Nov. 2 after Leelanau County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to her home at about 9:45 p.m. When they arrived they found her 74-year-old husband bleeding from an injury to his face.

According to a report from the Sheriff’s Office the woman had answered a phone call from a relative prior to the incident. After hanging up the phone, she walked over to where her husband was sitting on the couch and punched him in the face, the report stated. The man was treated at the scene.

Adkins was taken to the Leelanau County Jail.

In court on Tuesday, the man asked for a no-contact order placed on his wife to be lifted. Probate Judge Larry Nelson denied the request.

Adkins is requesting a court-appointed attorney. Her pretrial conference has been set for Nov. 15.
