New Suttons Bay librarian welcomed into community

CHAPLIN CHAPLIN The new director of the Suttons Bay- Bingham District Library, Bradley Chaplin, was formally welcomed to the community by members of the Library Board and others invited to an event Monday morning at the library.

Chaplin, 48, succeeds Ryan Deery, who recently received a posting as director of the Allegan (Michigan) District Library.

Chaplin is former director of the Kalkaska Community Library. In 2014, under his leadership, the Kalkaska Library won the June B. Mendel Award for Excellence in Rural Library Service.

He resides on Cedar Lake in Elmwood Township with his wife, Jill. In his former job, he was commuting every day from Leelanau County to Kalkaska County. Chaplin said he appreciates being able to work closer to home.
