The weather changed with a bang, which was a tree hitting the roof. High winds, sleet, freezing rain, freezing temperatures, I think winter has begun.

Happy Thanksgiving. Ready, set, shop — locally as much as possible. I hope everyone has a tremendous day and all were able to eat too much and enjoy family and friends.

Enjoy the festivities this weekend, the beginning of my favorite time of year.

I can understand the deer/car accidents, which are fairly common, but bear/car accidents are pretty few and far between. However they definitely happen and I thought the bears would be in hibernation by now, but too early.

A special thank you to the other members of the Township Board and members of our community. Although John Soderholm, Kent Kelly and I are retiring from the board after 16 years. I am proud of what this board accomplished in the past 16 years, some of which is very evident and some not as evident but still important. It has been a pleasure serving the community.

I think the next Empire Area Community Emergency Fund concert will be at Art’s on Sunday from 4-6 p.m. The concert will feature contemporary folk singer and songwriter Andre Villoch.

Happy birthday wishes to a good lady, “bad sue” Nichols and to Christy Bailey Suber. I wished Leonard Thorsen a happy birthday last week, but didn’t realize it was his 90th, I will have to congratulate him when he rides his bike by down M-22 next time. He has not slowed down.
