We knew the weather was going to change, and change it did.

This is the season for Christmas parties with many people on the road and enjoying the season. With a little bit of snow and a little bit of partying out there, be extra careful on the roads. We want everybody to be able to enjoy the holidays.

I understand that this year the Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail in addition to being groomed from Glen Arbor toward Empire will also be groomed on the trail north of Glen Arbor from Crystal View Trailhead past the Homestead to Port Oneida Road. Should be great cross-country skiing with a little more snow.

A party was held at the State Bank in Empire to celebrate the retirement of Shirley Lawson. Shirley has been a very familiar face in local banking, from Empire Bank, Huntington bank and then State Bank. We hope Shirley enjoys her retirement.

Happy birthday wishes to Dolores Strobel.

Enjoy this time year when people are kind, and don’t forget to shop as locally as possible. Be careful, be safe, be happy and be kind.
