Jesus’ teachings lead to benefits across the globe

To the Editor

Christmas is a joyous season when hearts are touched by the story of the birth of baby Jesus. But it was the man, Christ Jesus whose message, whose life and death touched the hearts of much of mankind over the centuries, and changed the world.

Jesus told his disciples that, “All men will know that you are my disciples if you love one another” (John 13:34). Jesus went about doing good, showing love and compassion and taught his followers to “let their light shine before men that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:16.)

Jesus instructed his apostles to “go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing (immersing per the Complete Jewish Bible) them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” (Matthew 28:19)

The Apostles did go and spread Jesus’ teachings and changed hearts. We have been blessed to have much of his life and teachings recorded in the New Testament.

Jesus said one who gave a “cup of cold water” as his disciple would be rewarded. Because Christians took Jesus’ messages to heart, there are millions in various nations around the world who have clean water from wells drilled by Christians. Also there are children’s villages, schools, hospitals and all manner of good being done because hearts have been changed by baby Jesus who grew to be the One God sent to reconcile man to God, our Creator.

Even non-believers have been blessed by learning the joy of giving and forgiving. And who has not had their spirit lifted by the music of the season?

Merry Christmas to all and a Happy New Year!
