Collecting foods on national holiday

Pathfinder School in Greilickville will hold its Day of Service & Celebration on Monday in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day by collecting canned goods, infant care items and personal hygiene items from noon to 1 p.m. at Tom’s West Bay on the corner of M-22 and M-72. The school will also host a free concert at 1:50 p.m. with local musicians and other performers.

Offer ideas for county parks

Want your county parks to look their best? Offer more recreational opportunities? Then get involved with the Leelanau County Parks & Recreation Commission at an organizational meeting set for 3 p.m. next Wednesday, Feb, 18, followed by the commission’s regular meeting at 3:30 p.m. in the Board of Commissioners room at the County Government Center in Suttons Bay Township.

Worldly costs, local panel

Head to the Old Art Building in Leland at 6:30 p.m. next Thursday, Jan. 19 to watch a film, “True Cost,” a documentary about the clothes we wear, the people who make them and the impact they have on the world. The film will be followed by a panel discussion with local entrepreneurs. The event is hosted by The Fibershed and the Leelanau Community Cultural Center. It’s free, though donations are appreciated.
