Weaver charged with 4 felonies

A 30-year-old Traverse City man pleaded not guilty to four felony charges at his Circuit Court arraignment held Wednesday.

Robert S. Weaver II was charged with first degree home invasion, a 20-year felony; assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, a 10-year felony; malicious damage of property, $1,000 to $20,000; and interfering with electronic communications.

Charges of possession of child sexually abusive material and using a computer to commit a crime have both been dismissed.

Weaver was released on a $100,000 cash bond on Tuesday and told the court that he plans to live at a residence in Leland.

He has been in the Leelanau County Jail since June, when he allegedly went into his parents’ Leelanau Township home and threatened to kill his father, struck him several times, and took phone from his mother when she tried to call for help.

The child porn was allegedly found when police analyzed his phone that was seized after that incident.

Weaver’s pretrial conference has been set for Feb. 6.
