Three talent shows prove Leelanau’s got talent

The Suttons Bay Variety Show and Student Collage will be held in the high school auditorium Saturday as a grand finale to the Yetifest. The show starts at 7 p.m., but get there at 6 p.m. for refreshments and photos with the Yeti.

The St. Mary Showcase Talent & Variety Show will be held next Saturday, Feb. 4, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the school gym. And the Senior Services Variety Show is set for 3 p.m. on Feb. 24 at the Old Art Building in Leland.

Chili dinner helps teacher’s family

Show your support for a local teacher and her husband’s battle with cancer at a chili supper fundraiser from 4:30-7 p.m. next Wednesday, Feb. 1, at St. Mary School in Lake Leelanau. Proceeds will go to the family of Emily Carol, a second grade teacher at the school. A donation will be sought for dinner of chili, cornbread and a dessert. Stick around for boys basketball games at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Chance to explore high school options

Area eighth-graders and their parents are invited to attend the annual high school fair from 7-8:30 p.m. next Wednesday, Feb. 1, in the Pathfinder School gym in Greilickville. Representatives from several area public, parochial and independent schools will be there, including Interlochen Academy, Cranbrook Institute in Bloomfield Hills and Wayland Academy in Wisconsin. The event is free and open to the public.
