Add your voice to township budgets

Townships are as local as government gets in Michigan, and most of the townships in Leelanau County are busy preparing budgets for new fiscal years that will begin on April 1.

While annual meetings won’t be held until March, budget preparation is underway. For instance, the Leland Township Board will hold a budget workshop for its fire department operations and equipment at 1 p.m. today in the township office in Lake Leelanau.

Contact your township to get involved.

Lions to flip pancakes, omelets

Members of the Cedar-Maple City Lions Club will be cooking up what they call a “deluxe pancake breakfast” Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The menu includes pancakes, waffles, sausage, scrambled eggs, potatoes, fruit, beverage and omelets to order.

Did we mention dessert? Yes, that’s included.

The Lions Community Building is located in Maple City. Breakfasts will follow on March 5 and April 2.
