Blues coming to the Bluebird
Listen to some blues for a good cause at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Bluebird Restaurant in Leland. The Blues at the Bluebird will feature the Queen of Detroit Blues singer and legend Thornetta Davis. League to host pipeline protesters
Hear three northern women activists talk about their experiences at Standing Rock in North Dakota, where efforts to stop the Dakota Access Pipeline have been ongoing. Holly Bird, Kareen Lewis and Belinda Bardwell will talk about their efforts to stop the pipeline at 2 p.m. Sunday at Bayside Coffee & Tea in Suttons Bay. The free event is sponsored by the League of Women Voters Leelanau County.
Rate hike possible for sewer users
The Leland Township Board and Sewer Commission will hold a special meeting at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Leland Township Office in Lake Leelanau to talk about ongoing maintenance issues with the Leland municipal sewer system. Sewer rates will likely be increased to pay for several needed repairs to the system, including replacing a blocked sewer line under the Leland River.
