Glen Arbor folks focused on art, spring

Happy Spring!

A sure sign of spring is the annual meetings held in Glen Arbor Township and Empire Township. The annual and Glen Arbor Township was held on Saturday and was well attended as always. The community stays in touch.

On April 9 from 2-3 p.m. the Glen Arbor Art Association’s “Talk About Art” series continues with host Norm Wheeler in conversation with sculptor Bill Allen. Allen is known throughout the region for his large-scale welded steel sculpture celebrating a wide range of four-legged animals. Allen is a selftaught visual artist who lives in Maple City. The program will be held at the Leelanau School dining hall.

Staying with the Glen Arbor Art Association, the next production of The Readers Theater will be “The Old Lady Shows Her Medals and the Twelve- Pound Look” by James Barrie. Auditions will be held at the Glen Lake Community Reformed Church April 26 from 7-9 p.m.

Give blood, if possible. Michigan Blood will be at the Empire Town Hall on Friday from 3-7 pm. Sponsored by the Empire Area Community Center.

Snow birds will be returning in flocks now so be careful.
