Public Notices For Leelanau County

Michigan law requires local governments to inform their citizenry through public notices published in newspapers of record for their communities. These notices provide residents with an easy path for following the work of their elected officials. Public notices for Leelanau County can also be accessed online at Leelanaunews.com.

Notices that can be found in Section Three of this week’s Leelanau Enterprise include:

 Empire Township Board will hold a public hearing on Apr. 11, at 7:30 p.m. to review and consider objections to, and consider confirming the special assessment roll prepared by the township supervisor for the Southpointe Lane and W. Maple Glen Drive.

 Northport Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) will be held on Thur., April 6, 2017 to consider a request from Frank Goodroe, for an appeal of the Village Zoning Administrator’s decision that a ‘rooming house’ rental use is in violation of the Village Zoning Ordinance.

 Elmwood twp board public hearing is scheduled for Wed., Apr. 26, at 6:00 p.m.

Empire Township Public Hearing Notice

Southpointe Lane And W. Maple Glen Drive Private Road Improvement Special Assessment District - 2017

Please take notice that the Empire Township Board will hold a public hearing on April 11, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. at the Township Hall, at which time it will meet, to review and consider objections to, and consider confirming the special assessment roll prepared by the township supervisor for the Southpointe Lane and W. Maple Glen Drive Private Road Improvement Special Assessment District - 2017. The special assessment roll is on file with the Township Clerk and may be examined by contacting the clerk at 231-326-5349.

An owner of, or party of interest in, any parcel in the proposed special assessment district may appear in person at the hearing or shall be permitted to file by letter to protest the confirmation of the special assessment roll prepared by the Township Supervisor. An appearance or written protest at the hearing in the special assessment proceedings is required in order to appeal the amount of the special assessment to the State Tax Tribunal. If a protest is filed in writing, it must be mailed to the attention of the Township Clerk at P.O. Box 234, Empire, MI 49630 or submitted to the Township Clerk no later than 4:00 p.m. on April 10, 2017

Northport Village Zoning Board Of Appeals Public Meeting

A special meeting of the Northport Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA)

Will be held on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at the Village Hall, 116 West Nagonaba Street at 7:00pm (the regular council meeting will immediately follow the appeals hearing). Purpose of the hearing is to consider a request from Frank Goodroe, 122 West Third Street, Northport (property ID# (042-450-066- 00-10) for an appeal of the Village Zoning Administrator’s decision that a ‘rooming house’ rental use is in violation of the Village Zoning Ordinance, (CR-1) Commercial/Residential District. The appeal is for an interpretation of the Village Zoning Ordinance November 2006, Article 12, CR-1 Commercial/ Residential District, 12.02 Uses Permitted by right. Elmwood Township Board Notice Of Public Hearing

A Public Hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at 6:00 p.m. before the Elmwood Charter Township Board to consider a new draft Zoning Ordinance and map. A complete updated draft Zoning Ordinance is available at the Township Hall or online at www.leelanau. cc/elmwoodtwp.asp. Regular Township business hours are Monday thru Friday, 9 am to 5 pm.

The public hearing will be held at the Elmwood Township Hall, 10090 E. Lincoln Road, Traverse City. Individuals can make public comment or submit written comments, in person, at the public hearing. Written comments may be submitted prior to the public hearing by mailing them to: Planning and Zoning Department, 10090 E. Lincoln Rd, Traverse City, MI 49684 or planner@elmwoodtownship.net. Board Meeting Minutes

The Suttons Bay Township Board held its regular meeting on March 8, 2017. Present: Clerk VanHuystee, Treasurer Hartesvelt and Trustees Nixon and Slocombe. Reports received - Planner, Zoning Administrator. Minutes of previous regular meeting was approved. Authorization was received to pay the bills.

Held the Annual Budget Hearing and adopted 2017-2018 Fiscal Year Budget, and set millage rate to support the Fiscal Year Budget. Dan Wagner, Manager, Leelanau County Road Commission gave a report. Reviewed Dick Figura’s letter regarding review of Library Millage: Collection and Payments. Appointments made to Zoning Board of Appeals. Assigned Ordinance Number to Short Term Rental Ordinance. Set up a committee to review fee schedule. Request from Parks and Recreation Committee to spend money on surveys.

Leland Township Board Special Meeting

March 18, 2017—Following Annual Meeting

Leelanau Community Cultural Center, 111 S. Main, Leland

The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Susan Och, with Clerk Jane Keen and Trustee Michael Collins present. Treasurer Shirley Garthe and Trustee Tony Borden were absent. The agenda was approved. Approved the Lake Leelanau Street Fair for August 19, 2017, and authorized the clerk to apply for a street closing

 Adopted the Leland Township General Appropriations Act 2017-2018

 Approved the Leland Township Board meeting schedule for 2017-2018

Public comment was heard. The meeting was adjourned at 1:17 p.m. Minutes are on file at the Leland Township Office, 123 N. St. Joseph St., Lake Leelanau, and on the township Web site at www.leelanau.cc/lelandtwp. asp.

Empire Village Public Notice

March 22, 2017

This is to inform you that at the regular meeting held March 21, 2017, the Empire Village Council adopted Ordinance #147 an Ordinance to restrict the time, place and manner of parking or abandoning vehicles and/or the placing of other objects, including snow, ice or slush in the public right of way; to provide for violations and penalties; and to designate enforcement officials. This Ordinance replaces Ordinance #71 Snow Removal. A complete copy of this Ordinances may be seen and purchased at the Village Office, 11518 S. Synopsis of Suttons Bay Village Council Regular Meeting of March 20, 2017.

Regular meeting called to order at 5:30 p.m. Quorum present.

Present: Bahle, Case, Hylwa, Johnson, Lutke and Suppes.

Absent: Christensen.

Council approved budget amendments as proposed. Council approved payment of bills.
