Elmwood man denies charges levied of felony drunk driving

NALEWYKO NALEWYKO A 56-year-old Elmwood Township man pleaded not guilty Tuesday to a felony charge of drunken driving at his 13th Circuit Court arraignment.

Mark D. Nalewyko, of 9025 Strang Road, is also charged with driving on a suspended license, second offense.

He is currently free on a 10 percent, $5,000 bond.

The charges stem from a Feb. 28 incident in which Nalewyko was found in his vehicle in a ditch on Cherrybend and Strang roads in Elmwood Township, according to a report from 86th District Court.

After smelling alcohol on Nalewyko, a sheriff’s deputy had Nalewyko perform some field sobriety tests, which he allegedly failed, the report said. No additional tests were performed because of his level of intoxication, the report said.

A PBT blood alcohol level of .22 percent was obtained, followed by breathalyzer samples of .19 percent and .18 percent, the report said.

Nalewyko was convicted of driving under the influence in 1992 in 70th District Court in Saginaw, and of operating while intoxicated, third offense, in 2012 in Leland.
