Man pleads not guilty to felony drunk driving

A 32-year-old Traverse City man waived his preliminary examination on Tuesday before entering a plea of not guilty to felony drunken driving at his Circuit Court arraignment.

Gordon A. Groeneveld, of 5105 Rosewood Dr., is currently held in the Leelanau County Jail on a $75,000 cash/surety bond, according to court reports.

The charges stem from a March 16 incident in which Groeneveld was pulled over by a sheriff’s deputy on March 16 in Suttons Bay Village.

His preliminary breath tests at the time were .24 percent and .25 percent, the report said.

If convicted of the charge, Groeneveld will be sentenced as a three-time habitual offender, having been convicted of negligent homicide in 2006 and of unlawful use of a motor vehicle in 2003. Both of those convictions were from 57th Circuit Court in Petoskey.

A pretrial conference has been set for Groeneveld for April 24.
