Town or township of residence: Bingham Township. I’ve lived there 20 years.

Marital status: Married to Amy Cook, who works for American Airlines in Traverse. We have a son, Taylor, 22, who is about to graduate from Michigan State University, and our daughter, Rosemary, is 19 and in her second sememster at NMC and just was accepted to continue her education at Grand Valley State University. She is extremely excited.

You live in Leelanau County because: It’s a great place to raise a family, and a slower pace from the big city of Chicago. It’s nice to have Traverse City so close.

Last good movie you saw: “La La Land.” Good movie.

Last good book you read: I’m embarassed to say I don’t read a lot. Every once in awhile I read a magazine, usually sports and golf. People Magazine. Or anything I see at a doctor’s office.

If you could trade places with one person for a day, who would that be: Murphy, our 4-year-old yellow lab. Because he has no cares, no worries and no problems — he’s loveable.

Things important to you that you have accomplished so far: College degree, raised a great family, and I have an exceptionally outstanding wife. She is the mainstay of our family. I’m very fortunate to have all of those.

What you hope to be doing in 10 years: Talking about my kids, and spending a lot of time with my wife.

Things you lose sleep over: Politics, the direction of our country, and the future. And the cost of living.

If you could change one thing in Leelanau County, it would be: I would slow down traffic on M-22 so everybody could enjoy the county.

Favorite dessert: Tiramisu. It’s a delicious form of sponge cake. And homemade chocolate chip cookies made by Rosemary.

Are you a coffee drinker: No. I drink a soft drink for breakfast.

Favorite place in Leelanau County: Any golf course in Leelanau County. Bahle Farms is my favorite, and the Leland Country Club.

If you have more time, you would: Play golf and travel.

The words that best describe you are: Caring about other people and willing to help them, smiling, and a positive attitude.
