Men plead not guilty to drug charges

Two men charged with selling drugs out of an Elmwood Township home were bound over to 13th Circuit Court and pleaded not guilty to all charges after waiving their preliminary examinations on Tuesday in 86th District Court.

Jeremy A. Bower, 25, is charged with two counts of delivery/ manufacture of a controlled substance, 20-year felonies, and three felony weapons charges.

He is being held in the Grand Traverse County Jail on a $500,000 cash/surety bond.

Drew A. Scheele, 31, is charged with felony possession of cocaine and of maintaining a drug house. He is currently free on a 10 percent, $50,000 bond.

Scheele was also granted a bond request to have his PBTs reduced from daily to four times per month.

Both men were arrested after Traverse Narcotics Team officers executed a search warrant on March 10 at their home at 10010 S. Center Highway.

Officers allegedly found 48 grams of cocaine, marijuana and a stolen firearm in Bower’s bedroom, according to court reports.

Bower had fled the home through a back window during the raid and was picked up four days later at a home in Lake Ann. He was wanted on several outstanding warrants, reports said.

Bower has a previous conviction of delivery of marijuana.

Scheele was apparently renting a room to Bower and was aware that marijuana and cocaine were being sold out of the home, reports have said. Police also found cocaine in Scheele’s possession, the report said.

The next court date for the men has not yet been set.
