Higher millage will pay for health, shopping transports

To the Editor:

The Bay Area Transportation Authority is now offering new services for Leelanau County. Door-todestination transportation to health services and shopping in Traverse City will be available on Tuesdays and Thursdays for seniors and people with disabilities. This service will allow many who can no longer drive to remain independent.

Fares for this service are $3.00 one way. If you have ever had to take a cab to get to or from Traverse City you know what a bargain that fare is.

BATA village loops are also important to some of the county’s labor force. At least two of my younger neighbors use BATA daily to get to work.

Vote yes for the BATA millage on May 2.
