Public Notices For Leelanau County

Michigan law requires local governments to inform their citizenry through public notices published in newspapers of record for their communities.  A special meeting of the Northport Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) will be held on Thursday, May 4, 7 p.m. Purpose of the hearing is to consider a request from Willowbrook Mill (Mimi Heberlein), 201 West Mill Street, Northport (property ID# (042-450-033- 00) for an appeal of the Village Zoning Ordinance for placement of an accessory building (shed) in the side yard.

Please Take Note that the Township Board of the Charter Township of Elmwood, at their regular meeting on April 10, 2017, made a motion to adopt amendment PC ZO 2016-02, Ordinance Number 2017-02 to the Elmwood Township Zoning Ordinance to rezone parcel number 45-004-028-150-00, commonly addressed as 10471 Grandview, and parcel number 45-004- 028-149-00, commonly addressed as Grandview, to R-3 Residential 3. Leelanau Township Board Meeting

Tuesday, April 11, 2017 7:00 p.m. Leelanau Township Hall 119 E. Nagonaba St. Northport, MI 49670 Supervisor Scripps called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

Board members present: Doug Scripps, Denise Dunn, Deb Van Pelt, Gary Fredrickson, and Galen Leighton.

Ten citizens and five staff members were present.

Clerk and Treasurer introduced their new Deputy Clerk, Monica Diaz, and Deputy Treasurer, Christy Hester.

Agenda set as amended.

Public Comment was heard from Marsha Buehler, thanked the board for taking up the Omena Fire Hall issue and she had letters of support from citizens in Omena; Jim Thomas, stated there should be oversight from the board with the paraglider group.

Approved minutes of March 14, 2017 Board Meeting as corrected.

Approved minutes of Special Board Meeting that followed the 2017-2018 Annual Meeting of March 25, 2017 as corrected.

Approved current bills in the amount of $130,786.86 as presented.

Reports were heard from Mark Morton, Library Leadership Committee; Ty Wessell, Leelanau County Commissioners; Hugh Cook, Emergency Services; Ben Purdy, Township Facilities.

Tabled Recreation Committee Resolution of Establishment until May 9, 2017 board meeting.

Approved renovations at the Omena Fire Hall and authorized the Supervisor to seek bids for project.

Approved amending the township’s Medical Health Care Policy to include Library Assistant.

Approved up to $3,500 in shared cost with the Village of Northport for transferable concrete structure tanks to place fuel pumps into.

Approved the purchase of fire helmets in an amount not to exceed $7,600 for the Fire Department firemen.

Approved a proposal from Ben Purdy to purchase and remove two small old maintenance/storage buildings at the Leelanau Township Cemetery.

Approved Field Mowing Agreement with Jim Thomas for the Leelanau Township Cemetery and Woolsey Airport.

Approved appointing Tim Overdier to fill the vacant position for the joint Village/Township Northport/Leelanau Township Utilities Authority.

Approved honorarium pay to Victor Goldschmidt for working with and on better communication and relations with all Emergency Services personnel.

Approved booking the powered paraglider group at the Woolsey Airport August 10 – 13, 2017.

Scripps discussed yard waste efforts, website/Facebook for township and long range township plans and where they were at to this point i.e. sewer, library group, and township hall group.

Public comment was heard from Hugh Cook, thanking the board for the support of the Emergency Services and invited/challenged board members to come to a monthly meeting; Paul Rebori commented on the Resolution for Parks and Recreation Establishment and missing meetings.

Suttons Bay Township Notice Of Adoption

Please take notice that the Suttons Bay Township Board, at the regular meeting on April 12, 2017 at 5:15 PM held at 95 W Fourth Street, Suttons Bay, Michigan, adopted Ordinance No. 5 of 2017, which amends the Zoning Ordinance.

The following is a synopsis:

An ordinance to amend Suttons Bay Township Zoning Ordinance by amending Article 2 Definitions and Article 4 Agricultural District.

A definition of “commercial farm” was added to Article 2.

Sections 4.4.O.2 and 4.4.O.3 were amended. These sections address parcel requirements and building setbacks for special events allowed as a special land use in the Agricultural District. Special events may be allowed at wineries, cideries and commercial farms if they meet all the requirements and after a public hearing.

This Ordinance shall become effective eight (8) days after publication in a newspaper of general circulation within the township.

Cleveland Township Board Proceedings

The following is a synopsis of the April 11, 2017, meeting of the Cleveland Township board. The complete minutes are available from the Township Clerk. Supervisor Stein called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. All members were present as well as four guests.

Agenda was approved as presented.

Approved minutes of the March 14, 2017 meeting.

Received Treasurer’s report and approved payment of bills.

Received Supervisor, Zoning Administrator, and Planning Commission’s reports.

The board approved the fireworks displace permit for July 1, 2017 from dusk to midnight on Little Traverse Lake.

The board adopted the 2017/2018 Proposed Budget as Presented at the March 25, 2017 annual meeting.

The board accepted the resignation of Tim Stein from the Cedar Area Fire and Rescue Board and approved his replacement Rick Royston to that board.

The board unanimously adopted the new Master Plan for Cleveland Township as presented by the Planning Commission.

Public comment was held. The meeting was adjourned at 7:47 p.m.

NOTICE OF MORTGAGE FORECLOSURE SALE (LEELANAU COUNTY) – MORTGAGE SALE – Default has been made in the terms and conditions of a certain Mortgage made by David J. Regner and Regina R. Regner, Husband and Wife, to Fifth Third Bank (N. Michigan), and dated October 26, 2005 and recorded on January 13, 2006, in Liber 887, Page 945, Leelanau County Records, Michigan. Empire Township Public Hearing Notice

May 9, 2017 AT 7:30 P.M. AT THE TOWNSHIP HALL, 10088 W. FRONT ST.

LAKEVIEW ORCHARD PRIVATE ROAD IMPROVEMENT SPECIAL ASSESSMENT DISTRICT - 2017

Please take notice that the Empire Township Board will hold a public hearing on May 9, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. at the Township Hall, 10088 W. Front Street for the purpose of receiving any comments or hearing any objections to the following:

1. The plans and cost estimates for the proposed repaving of the private road easements within Lakeview Orchard.

2. The new special assessment district is proposed to include 26 parcels, parcel numbers as follows: 005-019- 027-00, 005-020-005-00, 005-020-005- 15, 005-020-005-16, 005-020-005-20, 005-020-005-25, 005-020-005-30, 005- 020-005-35, 005-020-005-40, 005-020- 005-45, 005-020-005-50, 005-020-005- 55, 005-020-005-60, 005-020-005-65, 005-020-005-70, 005-020-005-75, 005- 020-005-80, 005-019-027-10, 005-019- 027-20, 005-019-027-30, 005-030-001- 00, 005-019-027-40, 005-030-001-10, 005-029-003-00, 005-029-003-10, 005- 029-003-20. An owner of, or party of interest in, any parcel in the proposed special assessment district may appear in person at the hearing or shall be permitted to file by letter to protest the improvement of said private road easements, the paving of same, the cost thereof, or the proposed financing of such improvement by special assessment. An appearance or written protest at the hearing in the special assessment proceedings is required in order to appeal the amount of the special assessment to the State Tax Tribunal. If a protest is filed in writing, it must be mailed to the attention of the Township Clerk at P.O. A special meeting of the Northport Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA)

Will be held on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at the Village Hall, 116 West Nagonaba Street at 7:00pm preceding the monthly Village Council meeting. Purpose of the hearing is to consider a request from Willowbrook Mill (Mimi Heberlein), 201 West Mill Street, Northport (property ID# (042-450-033- 00) for an appeal of the Village Zoning Ordinance for a placement of an accessory building (shed) in the side yard setback requirement of twenty (20) feet adjoining a commercial/residential district. The appeal is for a zoning variance of the Village Zoning Ordinance November 2006, Article 12, C-1 Commercial District, 13.04 Dimensional Requirements, Paragraph 3. Side Yard. “Side yard requirements shall not be required except on that side abutting a residential district, …….”. You are encouraged to attend the public hearing.
