Father Michael reassigned

FATHER MICHAEL Janowski at the May Crowning. FATHER MICHAEL Janowski at the May Crowning. Father Michael Janowski has been called to another assignment, with parishioners at St. Mary Catholic Church in Lake Leelanau thankful for the 12 years he provided of spiritual guidance.

“He’s so likeable and so caring,” said Jeff LaCross, a lifetime member of St. Mary. “He truly loves all his parishioners with all his heart.”

Janowski led St. Mary students yesterday in a walk through Parish grounds for The May Crowning of a statue of Mary, offering a prayer at the end of the ceremony.

He sought a personal blessing from God as his “humble spirit,” saying later how close he’s grown to the St. Mary Parish.

“I will miss everyone here so much,” Janowski said.

Lake Leelanau St. Mary is Janowski’s second assignment, having started in the priesthood at St. Mary of Hannah where he spent about two years. He was ordained in June 2003.

His next assignment will be in Cadillac, serving a cluster of three parishes including Manton and Lake City.

Coming to Lake Leelanau St. Mary will be Rev. Bryan Medlin, who is now Parochial Vicar in the Parish of St. Ann - St. Edward in Cadillac.

The new assignments will officially begin on June 29, according to information provided by the St. Mary parish office.
