Calling old settlers

Get a gander at a plan for changes at Old Settlers County Park at a meeting of the Old Settlers Park Committee set for 2:30 p.m. today, Thursday, in the law library of the Leelanau County Government Center in Suttons Bay Township. The meeting will recess and reconvene at Old Settlers Park on South Dunns Farm Road in Burdickville. The park lost about 60 mature trees and the conceptual plan includes playground equipment, a pavilion, a walking trail and improved parking.

Important meeting on Alzheimer’s Disease

Learn the 10 signs of Alzheimer’s Disease and the importance of early detection at a workshop set for 1-2 p.m. Friday at the Leelanau County Government Center. The program will be presented by Maggie Hardy of the Alzheimer’s Association. It will be sponsored by Leelanau County Senior Services and ShareCare Leelanau.

Polka for your mother

Get your Bohemian dancing shoes on and have mom teach you how to polka at a Mother’s Day Dance set for 7 -11:30 p.m. Saturday at the St. Rita/St. Joseph Hall in Maple City. Music will once again be provided by the popular Roger Majeski & The Harmony Kings from Mosinee, Wis. The cost is $15 per person, with children 16 and under getting in free when accompanied by a parent.
