Michigan law requires local governments to inform their citizenry through public notices published in newspapers of record for their communities. Cleveland Township Board Proceedings

The following is a synopsis of the May 2, 2017, meeting of the Cleveland Township board. The complete minutes are available from the Township Clerk. Supervisor Stein called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. All members were present as well as six guests.

Agenda was approved as presented.

Approved minutes of the April 11, 2017 meeting.

Received Treasurer’s report and approved payment of bills.

Received Supervisor, Zoning Administrator, Planning Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals’ reports.

The board approved the event permit for the Little Traverse Inn for the September 16, 2017 10k run around Little Traverse Lake.

Public comment was held. The meeting was adjourned at 7:36 p.m.

Suttons Bay Village Council

Synopsis of Suttons Bay Village Council Regular meeting of May 15, 2017

Regular meeting called to order at 5:30 p.m. by President Lutke. Quorum present.

Present: Bahle, Case, Christensen, Hylwa, Johnson, Lutke and Suppes

Council affirmed President Lutke’s DDA Board recommendations to appoint Donna Popke to a term beginning immediately and ending December 31, 2018, to appoint Kim Pontius to a term beginning immediately and ending December 31, 2019, and Bridget Lambdin to a term immediately and ending December 31, 2020. Council approved the proposal submitted by Beckett and Raeder, in the amount of $10,078.00, to provide professional services to assist the DDA in the completion of the DDA/TIFA Plan, and provide the Village Manager with signatory authority to enter into a service agreement with Beckett & Raeder. Council accept Board member Robert Johnson’s letter of resignation as a Trustee of the Suttons Bay Village Council. Council adopted Resolutions of Appreciation to Bob Martinson and Robert Johnson. Council approved payment of bills.

The meeting adjourned at 6:05 p.m.

Empire Township Public Hearing Notice

June 13, 2017 At 7:30 P.M. At The Township Hall, 10088 W. Front St.

Lakeview Orchard Private Road Improvement Special Assessment District - 2017

Please take notice that the Empire Township Board will hold a public hearing on June 13, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. at the Township Hall, 10088 W. Front Street, at which time it will meet to review and consider objections to, and consider confirming the special assessment roll prepared by the Township Supervisor for the Lakeview Orchard Private Road Improvement Special Assessment District - 2017. The special assessment roll is on file with the Township Clerk and may be examined by contacting the clerk at 231-326-5349.

An owner of, or party of interest in, any parcel in the proposed special assessment district may appear in person at the hearing or shall be permitted to file by letter to protest the confirmation of the special assessment roll prepared by the Township Supervisor. An appearance or written protest at the hearing in the special assessment proceedings is required in order to appeal the amount of the special assessment to the State Tax Tribunal. If a protest is filed in writing, it must be mailed to the attention of the Township Clerk at P.O. Box 234, Empire, MI 49630 or submitted to the Township Clerk no later than 4:00 p.m. on June 13, 2017.

Empire Township Board Minutes

The following is a synopsis of the May 9, 2017 regular meeting of the Empire Township Board. A complete copy of the minutes may be obtained by contacting the Clerk at 231-326-5349.

Supervisor Noonan called the meeting to order at 7:32 p.m. Members present: Deering, Neiswonger, Price, and Deegan. Minutes of the 04-11-17 public hearing and regular meeting were approved.

Actions approved by motions: 1) Increased campground maintenance employee’s hourly rate to $14.00/hour. 2) Agreed to pay campground manager for 2 weeks in April when she was on site preparing for the season. 3) Increased the campground group site rentals to $40.00/night. 4) Referred a request for a music festival to the Zoning Administrator. 5) Adopted new zoning fees for Appendix B of the Zoning Ordinance. 6) Adopted resolution that directs the supervisor to prepare a special assessment roll for Lakeview Orchard special assessment district. 7) Adopted resolution that sets a public hearing on June 13, 2017 to hear comments on the proposed special assessment district roll for the Lakeview Orchard road improvements. 8) Agreed to purchase more new tables and chairs for the township hall and to offer Empire Village the old rectangle tables and at least 24 of the brown stacking chairs for their use as long as the chairs and tables are removed from the hall and stored at their facility. 9) Adopted new township hall rules for tenants and service groups. 10) Paid monthly bills.

Meeting was adjourned at 9:06 p.m.

Suttons Bay Village Council Public Notice

The Village of Suttons Bay Council is accepting letters of interest to fill a vacancy on the Village Council. Interested persons must be a Village resident, a citizen of the United States, not less than 18 years of age, and a resident of the state for not less than 30 days. Please submit your letter of interest to the Suttons Bay Village Clerk at 420 N. Front Street, P.O. 395, Suttons Bay, MI, 49682. Deadline: May 31, 2017.

The Leelanau County Government Center will be closed on Monday, May 29, 2017, in observance of Memorial Day.

As approved by the Leelanau County Board of Commissioners and as approved in the Leelanau County Personnel Policy Manual and the Teamster’s Local #214 union contract, Memorial Day is a holiday and shall be observed.

Leland Township Board Meeting

May 8, 2017—7:00 p.m.

Leland Township Library Munnecke Room, 203 E. Cedar St., Leland, MI

The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Susan Och, with Clerk Jane Keen, Treasurer Shirley Garthe, Trustee Michael Collins, Trustee Tony Borden and 22 guests present. The agenda was approved. Minutes were approved for March 13 and March 18. The Treasurer’s Report was approved. The following board actions were taken:

 Approve the agreement for EMS Services between Leland Township Fire & Rescue and Cedar Area Fire & Rescue

 Approve the resolution whereas, Public Act 280 of 1995, MCL 129.221, et seq., authorizes a township board to adopt a resolution authorizing the acceptance of payment by financial transaction devices

 Approve to submit Tribal Council Allocation application of 2% funds application form for the Play it Safe grant on behalf of St. Mary’s School

 Approve to submit application to the Road Commission for the Michigander Bicycle Tour on July 18-20.

 Approved to contract with Shockwave Pryo LLC for Leland firework display on July 3, 2017

 Approve the Leland Yacht Club Barbecruise on August 4-6 with conditions set-forth by the Township Supervisor

 Approved $850 tree treatment at Beechwood Cemetery

 Approved road closures on July 9, 2017 between 11 am and 5 pm for St. Mary’s festival; St. Mary’s Street, Meinrad St., St. Anthony St., Louisa St., and St. Joseph’s St.

 Approved bills and accounts
