Suttons Bay Township – Synopsis of May 10, 2017 Regular Board Meeting

The Suttons Bay Township Board held a regular meeting on May 10, 2017. Present: Supervisor Rich Bahle, Clerk VanHuystee, and Trustees Nixon and Slocombe.

Approved amended agenda. Reports received. Approved the Minutes and paying the bills.

Decided not to participate in McAllister Road Streetlight with Bingham Township. Approved construction of the pavilion in Herman Park. Approved sending letter to Senator Booher regarding short-term rentals bills in Legislature. Discussion held regarding upgrading the ice rink, and approved writing a 2% grant to the Tribe for the ice rink. Approved a request to use Graham Greene Park for a graduation party.

Draft minutes of all meetings of the Leelanau Montessori Board of Directors are available for public review at the office of the Board of Directors no more than eight business days following the meeting at which the minutes were taken and approved minutes will be available no more than five business days after the meeting which the minutes were approved.

Notice of any special meeting of the Leelanau Montessori Board of Directors is posted in accordance with the Michigan Open Meeting Act as the principle office of the Leelanau Montessori Board of Directors no less than eighteen hours prior to the special meeting.

Notice To The Residents Of The Village Of Suttons Bay

Please take notice that the Village of Suttons Bay Zoning Board of Appeals will hold a public hearing at a Regular Meeting on June 28, 2017 at 5:30 p.m. in the Village Hall, 420 N Front Street, Suttons Bay Michigan, to consider the following requests:

1. Appeal Request 1 -1; Stanley Jaroh, owner, of a parcel of land located between 408 and 412 St. Josephs Avenue, Village of Suttons Bay, property identification number 45-043-770-288- 00, in the North Gateway Area, NGA Zoning District. The request is to construct a 24’ x 63’ two (2) story commercial/ residential structure, requiring a variance from Section 4803 Dimensional and Bulk Standards. The request involves two (2) variances: specifically a seven foot (7’) side yard variance on both the south and north side lot line, resulting in a three foot (3’) side setback on both side lot lines. The minimum side yard setback in the NGA zoning district for a structure is ten feet (10’).

Information regarding the requests and the Village Zoning Ordinance are available for public viewing in the Office of Zoning, Village of Suttons Bay Hall, 420 W. Front Street, Suttons Bay, Michigan 49682, during regular business hours. Written comments will be received until the night of the meeting.

Empire Township Public Hearing Notice

June 13, 2017 At 7:30 P.M. At The Township Hall, 10088 W. Front St.

Lakeview Orchard Private Road Improvement Special Assessment District - 2017

Please take notice that the Empire Township Board will hold a public hearing on June 13, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. at the Township Hall, 10088 W. Front Street, at which time it will meet to review and consider objections to, and consider confirming the special assessment roll prepared by the Township Supervisor for the Lakeview Orchard Private Road Improvement Special Assessment District - 2017. The special assessment roll is on file with the Township Clerk and may be examined by contacting the clerk at 231-326-5349.

An owner of, or party of interest in, any parcel in the proposed special assessment district may appear in person at the hearing or shall be permitted to file by letter to protest the confirmation of the special assessment roll prepared by the Township Supervisor. An appearance or written protest at the hearing in the special assessment proceedings is required in order to appeal the amount of the special assessment to the State Tax Tribunal. If a protest is filed in writing, it must be mailed to the attention of the Township Clerk at P.O. Box 234, Empire, MI 49630 or submitted to the Township Clerk no later than 4:00 p.m. on June 13, 2017.

Township Supervisor, Peter Van Nort, called the meeting to order at 7:30 PM in the Glen Arbor Town Hall meeting room. All board members were present. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. The agenda was presented with additions and accepted as modified. The minutes of the 3/14/17 Regular Meeting were approved as presented. Minutes of the Special Board Meeting of April 5, 2017 were approved. Public Comments: John Popa, Leelanau County road Commission; Kelly Ciolek, Park renovation; Rob Karner, Park fund update. The Treasurer reported 3/31/17 cash on hand - $2,997,497.15. General Fund: Expenses $24,745.48, Payroll $14,232.80. Emergency Services: Expenses $44,677.77, Payroll $114,495.73. Both approved to be paid by motion. All expenses and financial statements have been reviewed and approved by ESAC. Emergency Services Advisory Commission report was given by Roy Pentilla. Fire Chief Operations Report was given by Chief Dodson. Zoning Administrators Report Tim Cypher report submitted in writing. Tim & Polly Cairns. Monthly Assessors Report submitted in writing. Correspondence was reviewed and accepted as presented. The Leelanau Conservancy, Planning and Zoning News, Northwest Michigan Invasive Species Network. Unfinished business – M-22 Clean-up, Heritage Trail Feasibility Contract. New Business – Request from the Glen Arbor Park Commission for ballot proposal in August 2017. Hazardous waste collection – 4 collections this year. Spring clean for the public restrooms – approved. Flat screen TV for the Township conference room for images, approved. Planning Commission Report – John Peppler. Public Comments – Chief Dodson had a question on the Hemphill gate decision. Board Member Comments – None. Supervisory Comments – None. Election Commission meeting called to order at 8:50 PM. Appointment of election workers. Motion to approve election workers, approved. Meeting recessed by call of the chair at 8:59 PM. Centerville Township Notice To The Public

Synopsis of Regular Bd. Meeting for May 10, 2017. Board members Schwantes, Wurm, Pleva, Schaub, & Hubbell were present. Board members approved a budget amendment to increase the Assessor wages $300 to $14,100 annually. The township is looking to secure bids from 3 architects for the township hall upgrade. The township would like to thank Dale Pleva for cleaning the bird debris from the chimney so heat could be restored at the township hall. Board members executed a “waive our right to purchase” on a property on E. Pine Knobbs Drive which will be sold as part of the foreclosure process by the county. Four Land Use Permits and no Land Divisions were issued in April. The next PC meeting will be June 12th, 2017 at 7PM at the Centerville Twp Hall. Elmwood Township Planning Commission Notice Of Public Hearing

A Public Hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at 7:00 p.m. before the Elmwood Charter Township Planning Commission to consider CLU 2017-02, a request by West Shore Partners LLC for a private marina, parcel number 45-004-033-088-00 & 45-004-033-090-01, commonly addressed as 13380 S West Bay Shore Dr. A complete copy of the application is available at the Township Hall or online at www.leelanau.cc/elmwoodtwp. asp. Regular Township business hours are Monday thru Friday, 9 am to 5 pm.

The public hearing will be held at the Elmwood Township Hall, 10090 E. Lincoln Road, Traverse City. Individuals can make public comment or submit written comments, in person, at the public hearing. Public Notice

Notice Of A Public Hearing On Proposed 2017-2018 Budget

PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that on June 12, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. at Suttons Bay Public Schools, 310 Elm Street, 2nd Floor Open Area in Elementary Building in Suttons Bay, Michigan, the Board of Education of Suttons Bay Public Schools, Leelanau County, Michigan will hold a public hearing to consider the District’s proposed 2017-2018 budget.

The Board may not adopt its proposed 2017-2018 budget until after the public hearing. A copy of the proposed 2017-2018 budget, including the proposed property tax millage rate, is available for public inspection during normal business hours at Suttons Bay Public Schools Superintendent’s Office, 500 Elm Street, in the High School in Suttons Bay Michigan.

The property tax millage rate proposed to be levied to support the proposed budget will be a subject of this hearing.
