Bond set at $500,000 in motorhome, cart thefts


FORD FORD Jason J. Ford of Traverse City was arraigned last week for his alleged involvement in the theft of a motorhome and two golf carts.

According to court documents, Leelanau County Sheriff Sgt. T. Cadieux on June 6 responded to a report of golf carts being stolen from Sugar Loaf Golf Course in Cleveland Township. Cadieux encountered and stopped a motorhome that allegedly was pulling a trailer with two golf carts.

The driver of the motorhome, Ford, 31, was arrested for operating under the influence of liquor. Cadieux learned that the motor home had been stolen in Grand Traverse County on May 31. After searching the motor home, deputies allegedly discovered burglary tools including bolt cutters as well as a loaded rifle.

Ford was arraigned on charges of possession of burglary tools; three counts of receiving and concealing stolen property; operating while intoxicated, third offense; possession of a firearm by a felon; felony firearm; possession of a loaded firearm in a vehicle; and fourth offense, habitual offender. His bond was set at $500,000 cash.
