Chicken dinner includes cole-slaw recipe

St. Wenceslaus Parish, Gill’s Pier will hold its 108th annual Chicken Dinner and Summer Festival Sunday on the church grounds, which offer expansive views of Lake Michigan and the Manitou islands.

The menu includes grilled chicken, dressing, potatoes and gravy, green beans, beverage, homemade pie — and of course cole-slaw made with Mrs. Houdek’s secret recipe and under her guidance.

Dinner will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Take-out meals will be available.

Tickets are $13 for adults and $10 for children 10 and younger. Preschoolers may eat free.

The festival includes a raffle, garage sale and children’s games.

Last year, some 1,242 people ate at the event. The church is located at 8500 E. Kolarik Rd.
