The Empire Lions Club Lucky 13 drawings have begun again. If you haven’t received your Lucky 13 form as yet see an Empire Lions Club member. It is well worth it. A $13 investment could return six times that.

I’m more than certain that the annual Running With the Bear Race was a huge success even with my lack of advertising. Very inadvertent and wait till next year.

The Glen Arbor Artist Association Center Gallery will host the Home + Table Show Aug. 4-10. A reception will open the group show Aug. 4 from 6-8 p.m.

Bridge walk update. There will be a bridge walk collector T-shirt this year. Thanks to Lance Roman and the Boy Scouts. Also thanks to Jim Hilton from Art’s for the design.

The Glen Arbor Artist Association’s 2017 Plein Air Weekend is a four-day event beginning with a lecture by “Paint Out” judge Hank Feeley who will provide a background and understanding of landscape painting. The weekend runs from Aug. 2-5, culminating in a“wet painting” sale and reception open to the public from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Glen Arbor Township Hall. Paintings may be purchased on a first-come basis with the beginning of sales signaled by a gong at 5:45 p.m.

Get tuned up for the sixth annual Dune Dash, a 4-mile run and walk set for Saturday, Aug. 19, that showcases the Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail. The race starts and finishes at the base of the Dune climb.

Happy Anniversary wishes to the Quicks, Bonnie and Rich. And a belated Happy 50th Anniversary to Marilyn and Harvey Warburton. Congratulations to all.

Some of you may recognize this little ditty. “At intersections, look each way. A harp sounds nice but it’s hard to play.” I might include one of these every week for a while, just cuz.

Summer is going fast, but there is still a lot of summer left and a lot of visitors to greet and have fun with. Be nice, be courteous, be thoughtful and above all be safe.
