Man pleads to using drugs

A man who was accused of selling drugs out of an Elmwood Township home has pleaded guilty to use of a controlled substance.

Drew A. Scheele, 31, was in 86th District Court on Tuesday, where he entered his plea. In return, charges of possession of cocaine and maintaining a drug house have been dismissed.

Scheele and his roommate, 25-yearold Jeremy A. Bower, were arrested after Traverse Narcotics Team officers executed a search warrant on March 10 at their home at 10010 S. Center Highway.

Officers found cocaine, marijuana and a stolen firearm in Bower’s bedroom, according to court reports.

Scheele was apparently renting a room to Bower and was aware that marijuana and cocaine were being sold out of the home, according to reports.

Police also found cocaine in Scheele’s possession, the report said.

Bower had fled the home through a back window during the raid and was picked up four days later at a home in Lake Ann. Bower was sentenced in June to five years in prison.

Scheele’s sentencing has been set for Aug. 15.
