Tuesday weather promised much but delivered little in the eyes of Northport Bay Yacht Club members.

“After a fresh start the wind died half way down the first leg, leaving five boats slopping around off Timber Shores,” Mike Sinclair said. “The race was abandoned, but all agreed it was a fine, soft evening for slopping around.”

Saturday’s race was the opposite, however. Sinclair said the forecast “promised little but the wind gods delivered a perfect day for sailboat racing” with clear skies, ideal temperatures and a “nor’westerly” increasing from about 5 knots to 12 or more.

Doug Kilgren’s Asylum won a neck-and-neck battle with Paradox for line honors in the final half-mile of the race. Bill Allen’s Pegasus crossed third.
