Man pleads to LSD possession


ZWYGHUIZEN ZWYGHUIZEN A 31-yearold Grand Rapids man pleaded guilty this week in District Court to two misdemeanor charges resulting from a traffic stop in which drugs were found.

Joel T. Zwyghuizen was stopped July 16 for speeding on M-72. During the traffic stop a Leelanau County Sheriff’s deputy discovered an Adderall pill, LSD and marijuana while searching his vehicle.

Zwyghuizen was originally charged with felony possession of a non-narcotic controlled substance — punishable by up to two years in prison — and misdemeanor charges of possession of LSD and marijuana.

Zwyghuizen pleaded guilty to lesser charges of possession of LSD and use of marijuana.

A presentence investigation and alcohol and drug assessment have been ordered for Zwyghuizen. His sentencing has been set for Aug. 22.
