S-B man faces two felonies, and more

BROWN BROWN A 32-year-old Suttons Bay man was arraigned Tuesday on several charges related to two home invasions and breaking and entering a vehicle.

Ryan T. Brown, of 1501 W. Bayshore Dr., was video-arraigned for third degree home invasion and breaking and entering a vehicle. If convicted, Brown will be sentenced as a four-time habitual offender.

According to the felony complaint, Brown broke into two homes — one in Suttons Bay Township and another in Elmwood Township — between June 26 and 28. He allegedly took property valued at more than $200 from each.

He is also charged with breaking into a van in Suttons Bay on June 28 and taking property valued at less than $200, a misdemeanor, according to his formal complaint.

If found guilty, the defendant could face a 5-year prison sentence and/or a $2,000 fine.

Larceny from a vehicle is a misdemeanor punishable by up to 93 days in jail and/or a $500 fine or up to three times the value of property stolen.

Brown was previously convicted of three other felony charges of larceny from a motor vehicle dating back to 2004 in 29th Circuit Court in Ithaca.

The defendant is requesting a court-appointed attorney. His probable cause conference has been set for Aug. 22 and a preliminary exam for Aug. 29.
