DEAN DEAN A 68-year-old Suttons Bay man on Tuesday pleaded not guilty to three charges of assault and battery in 86th District Court in connection with a July 15 incident in which he is accused of grabbing, punching and kicking three women who were in a hot tub.

Larry L. Dean, of 712 N. Dockside Circle in Suttons Bay, was arrested after allegedly assaulting the three women, all of whom were in their 20s, at a residential condominium complex in Suttons Bay Village, according to a court report.

The three women were in a hot tub at North Dockside Circle when they were approached at about 12:15 a.m. by Dean who told them that they needed to leave, the report said.

Dean left, but returned a short time later, the women told sheriff’s deputies at the time. When he did he allegedly grabbed one of the women and tried to pull her out of the hot tub, the report said.

When a second woman tried to intervene Dean punched her in the mouth, the report said. A third woman was allegedly kicked and knocked down in the tub, the report said.

The women were able to get away and call 9-1-1 only after another man intervened.

The victims, all of whom live downstate, are a 22-year-old from Riley who had injuries to her mouth; a 25-year-old from Byron Center who had injuries from being kicked in the side of her body; and a 23-year-old from Port Huron who had scratches on her body and a torn bathing suit top, according to the report.
