Pancakes coming to the lighthouse

Point your compass north to join the Friends of Leelanau State Park Saturday for a pancake breakfast from 9-11 a.m. under the big tent by the Grand Traverse Lighthouse in the park. Proceeds will be used to purchase new playground equipment for the state park. A sidewalk sales are also planned that morning at the Lighthouse museum.

Big week in Peshawbestown

Join the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians for its annual Peshawbestown Jiingtamok held on the pow-wow grounds in Peshawbestown. A health fair, food, dancing, crafts and more are on the schedule, which is included in coverage in Section Two, page 6. The Pow Wow Grand Entries are scheduled for 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, and noon on Sunday.

Lake Leelanau hosts street fair

Time to put a bug in your ear — the Bugs Beddow Band, that is.

The Bugs band is one of three acts lined up to perform under the tent at the Lake Leelanau Street Fair, set to run from 1-6 p.m Saturday. Those attending can watch street fair acts, rub elbows with vendors and enjoy some rock-and-roll and blues. Beverages, including local wines and spirits, will be available.
