Vets to receive welcome


RENOVATIONS ARE underway on the southwest corner of St. Michael Catholic Church in Suttons Bay. A meeting room is being added and an elevator is being installed to provide handicapped access to the lower level of the church. The project is scheduled to be completed by November. The Job Winslow Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will host a “Welcome Home Reunion” for Vietnam era veterans later this month in Traverse City.

Chapter members have invited Vietnam veterans and their guests to the 2017 DAR of Michigan State Vietnam War Commemoration Sunday, Aug. 27 at Traverse City West High School.

During the reunion, scheduled from 2-5 p.m., vets will receive a commemoration lapel pin, a certificate of appreciation and a small remembrance mail bag.

There will also be a special Vietnam War display, the Folding of the Flag and a brief program.
