Superintendent: Turf ‘good to go’

Superintendent Sander Scott said the new synthetic turf surface on the Glen Lake football field will be “good to go” for Friday night.

Scott and fellow Glen Lake administrators weren’t always so sure this summer, however.

“We knew all along it was going to be pushing it,” Scott said of tomorrow’s home opener, “but right now we are all systems go for Friday night’s game.”

Rain slowed progress this month, he said, but workers were still able to put the finishing touches on the infill this week in time for kickoff.

One thing fans may notice, Scott said, is that the center of the home bleachers aligns with the track — not the 50-yard line.

Scott said that was due to a previous miscue and, pending approval from the Glen Lake Board of Education, that plans are in place to correct it.
