Took a short trip to the Chicago-area this past weekend. Weather was great, seeing friends and relatives was great, traffic was incredible, I really don’t think I could move back there.

The Glen Lake Emergency Services held their annual 9/11 ceremony at 8:30 a.m. on the anniversary morning of 9/11. Unfortunately we were unable to attend, but I am certain that it was as moving and touching as it always has been. We will never forget.

The Empire Hill Climb is back again on Saturday. The course will increase to about 3/4 of a mile with eight turns. At its first revival the hill climb attracted drivers of a formula Ford and a modified circle track car, which actually won. It now looks to be bigger and better. Spectators can sit nearly above the race cars, — close, but safe from the action.

Happy anniversary wishes to Ann and Larry Krawczak and belated happy anniversary wishes to Mel and Chris Richardson.

Happy birthday wishes to Jan Heston, Christy Marshall of the Chicago Christy Marshalls, Tom Fordyce, Mike O’Brien, Matt O’Brien.

Special happy birthday wishes to my wife Dotti, which leaves a question. What do you buy for someone you have given 61 birthday presents to? I’ve kind of run out of ideas, but rest assured I will come up with something.

We still have visitors. Be careful, be kind, be happy.

Go patriotism.
