LAURA ROMANOWSKI, the lone member of the Glen Lake equestrian team, is pictured at districts with her horse, Tater, and team mascot, Peanut (coach Val Eimers’ dog). Glen Lake senior Laura Romanowski and her horse, Tater, are in position to punch a ticket to regionals at the Kalkaska Fairgrounds on Saturday.

The duo registered 50 points through two days of district action, 23 on Saturday and 27 on Sunday.

“We’re having big fun,” Glen Lake coach Val Eimers said.

Alba is dominating the Class D standings, Eimers said, but Romanowski trails second-place Grand Traverse Academy by just four points.

Only the top two teams from the division will advance to regionals. Points are awarded based on finishes (first place is good for eight points, second is good for seven points, etc.).

Romanowski will also need to hold off Kalkaska and Kingsley to advance.

Day 3 action will start at 8:30 a.m.
