Who dumped the glass? Large quantities of broken glass have been found on a stretch of Lake Michigan beach from Lane Road to the Burfiend farm. Cleanup is underway and signs are posted. Visitors are warned to wear shoes along the beach, and to walk their pets elsewhere until cleanup is complete. No glass containers are allowed on park beaches. Anyone with information about the origin of the glass is asked to contact the park at 326-4742 or email at sleepingbearinfo@ nps.gov.

The Empire area community center is looking for pre-lit artificial Christmas trees. If anyone is getting a new tree please donate-year-old tree to the community center and they’ll use them to decorate the streets of Empire, or the street of Empire. The trees can be dropped off at the village of Empire garage or at Deering’s market.

I would advise against wearing your best deerskin jacket when walking in the woods for a while. Right now it’s bow season. Homo sapiens and Bambi beware.
