‘Dish with Dems’ follows candidate visit to Leland

THANEDAR THANEDAR Leelanau Democrats will hold an informal social gathering today, Oct. 12, beginning at 5 p.m. at The Cove in Leland.

Known as “Dish with the Dems,” the Thursday event offers an opportunity for like-minded residents to mingle, according to Gwenne Allgaier, chair of the Leelanau County Democratic Party.

On Saturday, Leelanau Democrats heard in the Munnecke Room at the Leland Library Democratic nomination gubernatorial candidate Shri Thanedar of Ann Arbor. Thanedar spoke and took questions from local Democrats for about an hour in Leland before having coffee with potential supporters at Pedaling Beans in Lake Leelanau, according to a news release.

“As a business owner, I understand the important contributions small businesses make to our state’s economy and how difficult it is to thrive,” Thanedar said.

Born and raised in India, the 62-yearold moved to the U.S. at the age of 24 to pursue a Ph.D. at the University of Akron. He is chief executive officer of an Ann Arborbased chemical testing laboratory.
