6:59 a.m. — Bingham Township — Caller scared to get out of vehicle because there are no lights and something growled when she opened the door. (Called back when safely inside.)

11:11 a.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Small boat with motor washed up on shore.

1:22 p.m. — Centerville Township — Hunters trespassing.

1:31 p.m. — Empire Township — Car hit by another car at visitors center.

5:06 p.m. — Bingham Township — Caller following vehicle that is speeding, passing cars unsafely.

9:08 p.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Family trouble.

Thursday, Oct. 12

11:16 a.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Suspicious package.

3:37 p.m. — Bingham Township — Porsche SUV northbound on Co. Rd. 633, riding the white line for long distances. Inconsistent speeds.

5:36 p.m. — Bingham Township — Two black “crotch rockets,” one rider wearing a black jacket and the other a tan jacket. Both driving at a high rate of speed. Passing on double yellow and swerving in and out of traffic.

8:44 p.m. — Elmwood Township — Suspicious vehicles/persons going back behind Dockside. Ongoing problem with trespassers.

10:07 p.m. — Cleveland Township — Caller and his neighbor have had their mailboxes destroyed.

10:15 p.m.— Solon Township — Hit and run accident.

Friday, Oct. 13

4:22 a.m. — Suttons Bay — Loud party.

8:11 a.m. — Bingham Township — Larceny.

12:17 p.m. — Solon Township — Larceny.

2:59 p.m. — Leelanau Township — Suspicious person.

6:20 p.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Caller believes someone dumped liquid in the woods near his deer stand. Very strong smell.

10:14 p.m. — Leelanau Township — Disorderly person won’t leave business. Drunk and being belligerent with employees and guests.

Saturday, Oct. 14

9:07 a.m. — Kasson Township — Three cows in the road.

10:02 a.m. — Bingham Township — Red Subaru Impreza driving at excessive speed. No plates available.

5:04 p.m. — Elmwood Township — Caller hears lots of shooting. Concerned if they are doing it safely. Has had concerns before. Would like to see law enforcement.

5:20 p.m. — Elmwood Township — Caller was flagged down by a motorist who advised there is a red sedan speeding and swerving all over the road traveling north.

Sunday, Oct. 15

12:36 a.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Caller burned up a pot of chili on the stove. There was and is no fire. But she wants a report because she says her things will all have to be replaced as a result of smoke damage.

11:21 a.m. — Empire Township — Tree down completely blocking the road.

11:52 a.m. — Centerville Township — Tree, 10 to 12 inches in diameter, blocking the entire road.

5:39 p.m. — Leland Township — Disorderly person.

Monday, Oct. 16

12:01 a.m. — Kasson Township — Family trouble.

7:30 a.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Stalking.

9:11 a.m. — Leland Township — Trailer parked for more than a week at the old county jail site.

11:50 a.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Caller’s swim dock detached during storm. Caller doesn’t know where it could be in the bay. It is white on the top. Possibly 8 by 6 feet and has a “no diving” sign taped on it.

5:30 p.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Driver operating while intoxicated.

5:39 p.m. — Elmwood Township — Caller found dog. Cherry Bend Animal Hospital to get into contact with owner. Small, tan and about the size of a terrier.

8:07 p.m. — Leelanau Township — Disorderly person.

9:24 p.m. — Leland Township — Family trouble.

Tuesday, Oct. 17

12:33 a.m. — Suttons Bay Township — Stalking.

I've always enjoyed the

I've always enjoyed the Dispatch blotter because the writers in the past did a nice job reporting the calls. The current writer is doing a terrible job conveying the substance of the calls. It might be time to assign a more engaged and creative writer to this job or his superiors need to light a fire under this guy or gall!
