Could be awhile for sixth history book

Wondering when to pick up that sixth book by award-winning history writers M. Christine Byron and Thomas R. Wilson?

It may be awhile, reports Byron, although the Grand Rapids and Glen Lake couple are staying busy in the meantime.

“We’re not working on a book right now,” Byron said. “I’ll have to twist Tom’s arm. He has several projects he’s working on.”

After coming out in 2002 with their first book, “Vintage View of Leelanau,” the writing duo produced four more at a steady pace. Their latest effort, “Vintage Views Along Scenic M-22 including Sleeping Bear Dunes,” was recipient of the “books, private printing” award given by the Historical Society of Michigan in 2015.

Three of the authors’ books have won Michigan Notable Book awards from the Library of Michigan. Their book on the West Michigan Pike won a 2012 State History Grant Award from the Historical Society of Michigan.

Byron retired as the local historical collections librarian for the Grand Rapids Public Library. Wilson retired from Sears, Roebuck and Company, and serves on the board of the Grand Rapids Historical Commission.

Their present projects include writing columns for Michigan Blue magazine.
