Hot tub assault results in jail time for S-B man

DEAN DEAN A 68-year-old Suttons Bay man who attacked three women in a hot tub in Suttons Bay has been sentenced to 93 days in jail followed by one year probation.

Larry L. Dean, of 712 N. Dockside Creek, was sentenced on one charge of assault and battery in 86th District Court on Wednesday.

Dean was ordered to serve 12 days in jail immediately, with the remainder of his jail sentence held in abeyance.

The charge stemmed from a July incident in which Dean grabbed, punched and kicked three women who were in a hot tub at North Dockside Circle, a condominium complex in Suttons Bay Village, according to court records.

The three women were in a hot tub at a little after midnight when Dean told them they had to leave, reports said. Dean left, but later came back and grabbed one of the women and tried to pull her out of the hot tub, reports said.

Two charges of assault and battery were dismissed in October in a plea agreement.

The two other women were assaulted when they tried to intervene, reports said. They were able to get away and call 911 after another man intervened, reports said.

Dean has been ordered to get anger management counseling.

He is also not to have contact with the three victims, who were 22, 23 and 25 at the time of the incident and all had injuries from the assaults. All three live downstate.
