Young men helped out and seatbelts held securely

To the editor:

We would like to thank the two very nice young men who helped us get out of our car after we hit a patch of ice on M-22 south of Suttons Bay last Thursday, Nov. 8, and ended up upside down in a ditch. Luckily, while greatly shaken, our seat belts held us securely and we came out pretty much unscathed. These men helped us retrieve some items from the car and then had us sit in their warm car (while they stayed outside in the 20+ degree cold) while we waited for the Sheriff’s deputies and tow truck to arrive. Unfortunately, we didn’t get their names, but we believe they said they were from Lake Leelanau, and their uncle, who is blind, was in the back seat and said to remember him as Doctor John. Perhaps someone will recognize who we are talking about and pass on our sincere thanks for the aid and comfort they provided us. It was GREATLY appreciated! Deputies Scott Robinson and Steve Bailey were also very understanding and helpful.
