Barns, the film, in Empire

Head to the Empire Township Hall at 7 p.m. Friday for “The Barn Raisers,” a documentary that explores barns of the Midwest. Several Leelanau County barns and residents are featured in the film, which is being shown for free. The film will be followed by a question and answer period with Empire resident Steve Stier, vice-president of the Michigan Barn Preservation Network.

Holy Rosary plans bazaar

Holy Rosary Church will hold its second annual Holiday Bazaar from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday in the church basement. Local vendors will be selling baskets, matted photographs, and hand-sewn American Girl doll clothing. There is also a make and take project, a bake sale and raffle.

Holiday Spirit

Get yourself in the holiday spirit with community events in Suttons Bay and Leland, In Suttons Bay, purchases made Saturday at local businesses will result in donations made to Suttons Bay Public Schools.

“Light Up Leland for the Holidays, which is coming next Wednesday, Nov. 22, starts with a tree lighting at 5:30 p.m. at Christmas Tree corner followed by a visit from Santa at the Village Green. The event is sponsored by the Leland Chamber of Commerce and the Leelanau Conservancy.
