Resident since: I came here originally as a part-time resident in 2000 but started spending more and more time here each year and moved here permanently in 2016.

Age and birthplace: 67 and Detroit, MI

Occupation: I’m a retired teacher and basketball coach and am currently working a summer job at Bahle Farms Golf Course.

Marital status: Married

You live in Leelanau County because: Leelanau County is home to a unique combination of natural beauty and people who care about each other and the environment.

Last good movie you saw: “Dunkirk,” a powerful and harrowing movie which takes you on a cinematic journey into World War II and fabulously illustrates the struggle for survival.

Last good book you read: “Astrophysics for People in a Hurry,” by Neil deGrasse Tyson. It’s a New York Times Best Seller which answers the basic questions of the universe in an easy to understand language. The author is a great teacher and communicator.

If you could trade places with one person for one day, it would be: Mike Krzyzewski - known by most as Coach K. He coaches basketball at Duke University and is a great coach, teacher, and author.

Things important to you that you’ve accomplished so far: Taking on the roles of teacher and basketball coach for 33 years, raising my two children to become successful adults, and volunteering with our rescued Goldendoodle, Brinkley, who is a therapy dog.

What you hope to be doing in 10 years: Traveling, enjoying life in Leelanau County, spending time with family, and playing golf.

Things you lose sleep over: I’m a big worrier and lose sleep over the future of our nation and the way we treat people, animals, and the environment.

If you could change one thing in Leelanau County it would be: I think we need more affordable housing.

Favorite dessert: Cherry Pie from Chimoski Bakery is the best there is.

Are you a coffee drinker? No.

Favorite place in Leelanau County: Pierce Stocking Dr. and its overlook above the water.

If you had more time you would: I’d become more computer literate.
