Public Notices For Leelanau County

Michigan law requires local governments to inform their citizenry through public notices published in newspapers of record for their communities. These notices provide residents with an easy path for following the work of their elected officials. Public notices for Leelanau County can also be accessed online at Leelanaunews.com.

 Cleveland Township board meeting synopsis for Nov. 14.

 Elmwood Township planning commission public hearing is scheduled for Dec. 19 at 7 pm. to discuss a request by Dave and Kathy Crockett to construct a building for 44 dogs as a Dog Kennel.

 Cleveland Township adopted that on Nov. 14 a Resolution to Adopt the 2017 Master Plan was adopted.

 The Leelanau Conservation District proposed budget of the for the year beginning Jan. 1 will be presented to the District Board for final approval at their monthly board meeting on Dec. 5 at 7:30 pm.

Cleveland Township Board Proceedings

The following is a synopsis of the November 14, 2017, meeting of the Cleveland Township board. The complete minutes are available from the Township Clerk. Clerk Nowak called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Five members were present. Four guests were also present.

Agenda was approved as presented.

Approved minutes of the October 10, 2017 meeting.

Received Treasurer’s report and approved payment of bills.

Received Supervisor, Clerk, Zoning Administrator and Planning Commission’s reports.

The board adopted a resolution approving the Cleveland Township Master Plan.

Public comment was held. The meeting was adjourned at 8:15 pm.

Elmwood Township Planning Commission

Notice Of Public Hearing

A Public Hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, December 19, 2017, at 7:00 p.m. before the Elmwood Charter Township Planning Commission to consider:

CLU 2017-05, a request by Dave and Kathy Crockett to construct a building for 44 dogs at a Dog Kennel at 12813 S Bugai Rd, Traverse City, MI 49684, parcel number 45-004-030-011-00.

A complete copy of the application is available at the Township Hall or online at www.leelanau.cc/elmwoodtwp.asp. Regular Township business hours are Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm.

The public hearing will be held at the Elmwood Township Hall, 10090 E. Lincoln Road, Traverse City. Individuals can make public comment or submit written comments, in person, at the public hearing. Written comments may be submitted prior to the public hearing by mailing them to: Planning and Zoning Department, 10090 E. Lincoln Rd, Traverse City, MI 49684 or planner@elmwoodtownship.net. Written comments submitted prior to the public hearing will be received until 5:00 pm, Tuesday, December 19, 2017.

Suttons Bay Village Notice

Synopsis of Suttons Bay Village Council Regular meeting of November 20, 2017.

Regular meeting called to order at 5:30 p.m., by President Lutke. Quorum present.

Present: Bahle, Case, Christensen, Egan, Lutke and Suppes.

Absent: Hylwa

Council affirmed Village President Lutkes’ Planning Commission recommendation to appoint Frank Smith to a term beginning immediately, and ending December 31, 2018.

Council agreed to Rescind in its entirety, the August 21, 2017, Council motion to sell the Madison Street property back to Leelanau County. Council agreed to offer to quit claim the Madison Street property owned by the Village to the Leelanau County Land Bank Authority for $5,155.41 subject to deed restrictions, in a form satisfactory to the parties.

Council approved the Marina Fee Schedule as amended and presented.

Council agreed to engage Verdeveld and Haefner, LLC, to perform the financial audit of the Village financial statements for years 2017, 2018, and 2019 fiscal years, for the fees presented.

Council endorses Leelanau County Resolution #2017-012, recognizing the first day of October as Indigenous Peoples Day.

Council approved the payment of bills as presented by Treasurer DeVol.

The meeting adjourned at 5.55 p.m.

Cleveland Township Notice Of Adoption

Of Resolution To Adopt 2017 Master Plan

Notice is hereby given that on November 14, 2017 a Resolution to Adopt the 2017 Master Plan was adopted by the legislative body of the Township of Cleveland.

The 2017 Master Plan shall be effective as of the date of adoption of the resolution. A copy of the Cleveland Township resolution may be inspected at 955 W. Harbor Highway, Maple City, Michigan 49664.

Leelanau Conservation District Notice to the Public

The proposed budget of the Leelanau Conservation District for the year beginning January 1, 2018 will be presented to the District Board for final approval at their monthly board meeting on December 5, 2017, at 7:30 pm in the Conservation District office, located at 8527 E. Government Center Dr., Suttons Bay, MI. The office is located in the Lower Level of the Government Center. A Public Hearing will be held at the meeting allowing the public to comment on the proposed budget. Copies of the budget are also available at the District office.

Bingham Township Notice

Synopsis of Bingham Township Regular Board Meeting of November 20, 2017.

Meeting called to order by Supervisor Werner. Board members present: Midge Werner, Sandy Grant, Gary McGhee and Kathy Morio. Absent and excused: Brad Saxton. Agenda approved. The Regular Board meeting minutes of October 16, 2017 and the Special Board Meeting minutes of October 25, 2017 were approved. A special presentation on invasive and native plant species was given by Dave Barrons and Rebecca Koteskey. The draft Audit was accepted. The 2018 Board meeting dates were approved. Approved to pay Netlink for rebuilding/reworking of Sandra Grant’s office computer. Approved payroll and vendor balance. Meeting adjourned at approximately 8:20 pm.

Joan M. Wason, whose date of birth was June 22, 1926 and whose address was 9523 West Voice Road, Empire, Michigan, died on September 22, 2017. There is no personal representative to whom Letters of Authority have been issued. Joan M. Wason established The Joan M. Wason Trust dated November 22, 1996 and last amended on November 9, 2012 (the “Trust”). Wendyl Wason Bradley and David Bradley whose addres is 9523 W. Voice Road, Empire, Michigan 49630 are serving as the Successor Co-Trustees of the Trust. The attorney for the Successor Co-Trustee of the Trust is Timothy M.
