Public Notices For Leelanau County

Michigan law requires local governments to inform their citizenry through public notices published in newspapers of record for their communities. These notices provide residents with an easy path for following the work of their elected officials. Public notices for Leelanau County can also be accessed online at Leelanaunews.com.

Notices that can be found in Section Three of this week’s Leelanau Enterprise include:

 The Suttons Bay Township board of review will meet at 1:00 p.m. on Dec. 12 to address Mutual Mistakes and Clerical Errors.

 The Leelanau Township board of review will be held on Dec. 12 at 9:00 a.m. for considering agricultural, hardship and homestead exemptions, and correcting clerical errors (including uncapping issues), or mutual mistakes of fact only.

 Suttons Bay Village Council will conduct a public hearing on Dec. 18 at 5:30 pm. The property tax millage rate proposed to be levied to support the proposed budget will be the subject of this hearing.

Leelanau Township Notice to the Public

The Leelanau Township Board of Review will be held on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at the Township Office, 119 E. Nagonaba, Northport, Mich., at 9:00 a.m. 231-386-5138.

The purpose of the December Board of Review is for considering agricultural, hardship and homestead exemptions, and correcting clerical errors (including uncapping issues), or mutual mistakes of fact only. This meeting is not for the purpose of hearing appeals of assessment by individual property owners.

Suttons Bay Village Council Notice to the Public

Public Notice is hereby given that the Suttons Bay Village Council will conduct a public hearing on Monday, December 18th, 2017 at 5:30 p.m. at the Suttons Bay Village Meeting Room located at 420 Front Street, Suttons Bay, MI 49682.

Leland Township Board First Public Hearing

Proposed Sunset Shore Special Assessment District November 28, 2017—7:00 p.m.

Leland Township Library Munnecke Room, 203 E. Cedar St., Leland, MI

The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Susan Och, with Clerk Jane Keen, Treasurer Shirley Garthe, Trustee Tony Borden, Trustee Michael Collins, and 25 guests present. The purpose of the hearing was read as follows: The primary purpose of the first hearing is to allow the township board to hear Sunset Shores residents’ objections to creating a special assessment district (SAD) and for the necessity of the improvement. Rules of conduct were also read.

 Public comments (spoken and written) against proposed district were given by: Catherine & Michael Jasinski; Beth Ann & Michael Beattie; Craig Glamzi; and Sylvester and Marie Korson.

 Public comments (spoken and written) for proposed district were given by: Deborah Wyatt-Fellows; Peter and Mary Taylor; Barbara and James Kobberstad; Larry Andrykovich; Dorothy & David Courturier; Nancy McNamara; Preston & Colleen Moose; Rick & Sandy Koehler; Jane Allendorph; Jerry Burkhardt; David Kersch; Gordon Zimmer; Robert J. Grant; and Rosemary McNally.

 Further consideration and discussion on the proposed SAD will be on the agenda for the regular Leland Township Board meeting, December 11, 2017, 7:00 p.m., Munnecke Room, Leland Township Public Library.

Glen Arbor Township Board Regular Meeting

October 17, 2017 Minutes Synopsis

Township Supervisor, Peter Van Nort, called the meeting to order at 7:30 pm in the Glen Arbor Town Hall meeting room. All board members were present. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. The agenda was presented with additions and modifications and approved. The minutes of the 9/19/17 Regular Meeting were approved as presented. Public Comments: Rick Schanhals and Jim Fowler, update on the park construction. The Treasurer reported 10/17/17 cash on hand - $2,344,202. General Fund: Expenses $32,608.69. Payroll $14,761.06. Emergency Services: Expenses $32,608.69. Payroll $112,587.89, both General Fund payroll and expenses and Emergency Services payroll and expenses were approved to be paid by motion. All expenses and financial statements have been reviewed and approved by ESAC.

Emergency Services Advisory Commission Report: Roy Pentilla. Fire Chief Operations Report: Chief Dodson. The Zoning Administrators Report: submitted in writing. The Monthly Assessors Report: submitted in writing. The correspondence was reviewed and accepted as presented. Unfinished business: The kitchen and bathroom tile flooring is completed in the gym. Life ring box for the ramp is being investigated for purchase. Fisher Lake Special Assessment District – Resolution was passed. New business: Town Hall rules and rental rates, Repair of tennis court #2, Park commission member replacement, ESAC member replacement. Planning Commission Report: John Peppler. Public Comments: None. Board Member Comments: None. Supervisor Comments: None. The meeting was adjourned by Supervisor Van Nort at 8:40 pm.
