We may lose a long time fixture in Empire. Deerings Market, which has been listed for sale, has been in place as long as many of us are able to remember. I have been coming to the area for a lot of years, over 60, and Deerings was the place to go for groceries, the best meat and the oldest butcher. I understand the reason, but I’m sure everyone is sorry to see a long-time family business consider selling. If it does sell, the business will be missed.

And a very special milestone Happy Birthday to Stuart Newblatt, who will only be nine. However, that’s measured in decades. Congratulations.
