Sheriff speaks on future plans

The Leelanau County Board of Commissioners will meet in executive session at 9 a.m. Tuesday with an agenda before them that includes an overview of the Sheriff’s office’s past year of work, plus some of the Sheriff’s aspirations for 2018.

Commissioners meet in the county government building in Suttons Bay Township.

Snowshoes, anyone?

In past years snowshoe hikes at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore have been anything but, with a lack of the white stuff making boots more appropriate.

But snowshoes will definitely be the preferred footwear at 1 p.m. Saturday for a ranger-led hike. Attendees should meet at the Visitors Center in Empire. Call 326-4700, extension 5010 for reservations and information.

Speak with Tom Woodruff

Northport artist and accomplished illustrator Tom Woodruff will speak at the membership meeting of the Northport Arts Association set for 7:30 p.m. Monday.

Woodruff kicks off a busy year for the association that includes a “drawing with Tom Woodruff” class on Saturdays from Jan. 13-Feb. 24. Woodruff will speak at the Village Arts Building, 301 N. Mill St.
