Big game at Kingsley

If you’re looking to see two of the top basketball teams in the state, pencil in a trip to Kingsley.

Glen Lake, ranked No. 6 in Class C and undefeated as of press time, will take on the Stags Friday starting at about 7:30 p.m.

The Lakers made a trip to the Breslin Center in 2017. A win at Kingsley would position Glen Lake nicely for a second straight “Final Four” appearance and third straight conference title.

Hemingway film coming to Leland

An 100-minute documentary about northern Michigan’s Ernest Hemingway will be hosted at 7:30 p.m. Friday by the Leelanau Community Cultural Center.

A film by Starbright Media called “Young Hemingway & His Enduring Eden,” referring to a novel released posthumously and criticized for its editing, will be shown in the Old Arts Building. Tickets are available online or at the door. They are $10 for adults and $5 for students.

Centerville Twp. looking ahead

A special meeting has been set for 7 p.m. next Wednesday, Jan. 24, at the Solon Township Hall in Cedar to look at possible road improvements and financial planning.

Like most townships in the county, the 2018 Centerville fiscal year begins on April 1. Board members are hoping for input into the 2018-19 budget.

A project to winterize and upgrade the Centerville Township Hall has been approved, but has yet to begin.
