Happy February. Although we think of February as the downside of winter, anything can happen in February and usually does. So get ready for whatever February may bring. The one thing to keep in mind that February always brings is Valentine’s Day, February 14.

It is almost Winterfest time, for those interested in participating, contact Tim Barr at Arts Bar or Bob Ewing at Boondocks for the Chili Cook-off, and contact Capt. Bob Smith at the Sportsman Shop regarding the Perch Fishing contest.

“Friends of Sleeping Bear Dunes” is an all-volunteer non-profit organization. They support Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore by providing funds and volunteers to supplement the Park staff and budget. What you may not notice are the many dedicated volunteers who work behind the scenes to keep the organization working smoothly. They occasionally have openings on their staff, as volunteers move on to other opportunities. At the moment, they need to find someone to take on the role of Fund Development Director. The director works with the Board of Directors and project managers to develop fundraising priorities and strategies. Good communication and leadership skills are needed, as well as a desire to learn.

Coming up, Glen Lake Community School’s Theater Department presents: “BACKSTAGE”, a farce that takes place backstage during opening night of “Don Juan in Cleveland”. Investors and critics are thrilled to have a renown, but aging actor, Burton Cavendish star in this show. Little do they know … Cavendish is dead. Performances are March 7, 8, 9 & 10 at 7:30 p.m. I will remind you all later of these performances.

Super Bowl is this weekend. I hope for the NFL’s sake it is super but I’m withholding comment.
